Shop Moving Update

I completely moved everything out of my space at the K-W Artist Co-op today and all of it is now in my new shop space downstairs in the same building. So close to opening day. Less than a week. All the feels.

I also moved my fabrics out of my barrister bookcases in my sewing room at home tonight. The bookcases will be coming to the shop early next week. Everything will be stored and displayed properly in the new space.

A sideboard is being delivered to the shop tomorrow and I’m going to use it as a dry sink. A dry sink is what existed before plumbing. I picked up a complimenting pitcher and bowl today for washing up cups and mugs so I can serve coffee and tea in the new space.

No one has signed up for the wand making courses I’m offering yet. I don’t know why. If no one signs up, I’ll turn the events into something else for October. So if you were interested in making wands, but decided not to take the course, share with me what held you back; so I can improve my offering.

If you were planning on signing up for and attending the course and haven’t bought tickets yet, do so please; or I have no idea there’s interest in the course I’m offering.

Bedtime for this witch. Goodnight.

Labour Day Weekend

I have more than thirty wands to post to the online store and all prices to update beyond this weekend. It is the Labour Day long weekend; so prices will go up once we’re into the work week. Enjoy current prices while they’re still here.

See the most recent previous blog post for details on the new 2018 price increase. Check out the Facebook Page for the new wand preview video.

Getting into high gear for festival season. Really psyched for St Jacobs September 8&9. Updated remote station supplies for travel. It’s going to be a clean sleek booth with gorgeous wands displayed for the choosing.

Have a great and safe weekend. Your back to magic school supplies are here waiting for you.

New Wand Prices Sept 1st

September 1st, the retail price of Dubleve Wands will increase. Now is the time to buy a wand you’ve had your eye on. Don’t delay.
The prices are not increasing arbitrarily. I calculate time into the cost of the wands. I don’t get paid for making them until the wands are sold. Minimum wage in Canada went up January 1st 2018. If I leave the prices as they are, I’d be making less than the new minimum. I didn’t increase prices back in January because I make most of my wands in July and August.
My inventory dwindled very low this year and I’ve been steadily working on new wands. I’m standing behind the promise I made last year and prices will not increase until September 1st. This has been a notice to inform and remind. Thank you for your interest and continued patronage. I will continue to offer prices as low as I can to remain competitive and funded.

The new prices will be as follows:
Charming approx. 8.5″l-10.75″l
$20.99CAD (currently $16.99CAD)
Transfiguring approx. 11″l-12.75″l
$24.99CAD (currently $19.99CAD)
Dueling approx. 13″l-14.75″l
$28.99CAD (currently $22.99CAD)
Philosopher shorter lengths, thicker diameter
$29.99CAD (currently $23.99CAD)
Alchemist longer lengths, thinner diameter
$34.99CAD (currently $27.99CAD)
Lord approx 16.5″l-18.75″l
$36.99CAD (currently $29.99CAD)

You Want to Make a Wand

Dubleve Wands has been my most successful product line to date. They’re each one-of-a-kind, personalised, have character, and spark the imagination.

I was encouraged by my fellow members at KW Artists Co-op to pursue them, and I decided to focus on them more than ever in 2018. A new direction for them has also been proposed to me not only from my co-op but from other friends and organisers.

Right now I’m working out the logistics and the how to get others making wands the way I do in a program format.
The first soft launch I’m going to do will be with Open Streets for the City of Waterloo July 15th 12pm-5pm. The theme for Open Streets this day is Cosplay. It won’t be a strong tutorial program; but it will allow you the opportunity to decorate a wand, make a charm, and take them both home in a box with you.

I’ll have enough materials to make a hundred wands. That’s ten an hour if they last that long at my booth. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m working on a good weather draught.
